What's a vesicle? 🔍

  • Imagine a tiny water balloon, but instead of water, it has some cool cell material inside. That's a vesicle! 🎈
  • It's a small rounded sac made of a one-layer membrane, bustling with energy, moving and morphing within the cell.

How are vesicles made? 🛠

  • Think of making bubblegum bubbles! A small area of membrane gets pinched off from a bigger one. That's how vesicles are born. 🍬
  • The process is called endocytosis, where cells sip a droplet of fluid from outside. Picture it as a cell drinking with a straw!
  • Enter our superhero: Clathrin. It's like the master sculptor for vesicles. This three-legged protein positions itself on the inner side of the plasma membrane when a vesicle is formed.
  • Here's the magic: Clathrin buddies join hands to form a net of pentagons and/or hexagons, kinda like the pattern on a soccer ball. ⚽
  • This beautiful network makes the plasma membrane curve inwards, creating a vesicle. Voilà!
