	<li>Alveoli: Tiny air sacs in the lungs.</li>
	<li>Main Job: Provide a HUGE surface area for gas exchange. Think of them as the trading spots where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged!</li>
	<li>Wall Thickness: Only one cell thick! It&#39;s like the thinnest pancake you&#39;ve ever seen!</li>

	Type I Pneumocytes (AT1 cells) 🥏:

	<ul>
		<li>Speciality: Made for the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide.</li>
		<li>Appearance: Super wide, super thin (0.15&mu;m). Imagine a crepe! 🥞</li>
		<li>Organelles: Few mitochondria, not much cytoplasm.</li>
		<li>Why so thin?: Helps oxygen and carbon dioxide make a quick trade. With the air in the alveoli and blood in capillaries being less than 0.5&mu;m apart, it&rsquo;s like two friends whispering secrets!</li>
	</ul>

	Real-world example: Imagine a thin tissue paper. It&#39;s easy for the air to pass through because of how thin it is. That&#39;s exactly what these cells do, making the exchange of gases super efficient!

	Type II Pneumocytes (AT2 cells) 🔴:

	<ul>
		<li>Population: They&#39;re like the commoners, making up 90% of alveolar cells.</li>
		<li>Size: Bigger! About 10&micro;m across. Like mini meatballs!</li>
		<li>Appearance: Packed with stuff! Think of them as mini factories with mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum, and lysosomes.</li>
		<li>Special Talent: Making phospholipids! They store them in fancy places called lamellar bodies.</li>
	</ul>

	Real-world example: Think of these cells as chefs in a kitchen, whipping up batches of phospholipids and storing them in Tupperware (lamellar bodies) until they&#39;re needed.

	The Setting: Inside alveoli, there&#39;s a thin layer of moisture. This is where oxygen dissolves before heading to the blood, and where carbon dioxide hops in before we exhale it.

	Phospholipids: Secreted by AT2 cells and form a layer on the moisture film.
	</li>
	<li>
	Arrangement: Like little swimmers, with their hydrophilic heads diving in the water and hydrophobic tails sticking out into the air.

	Real-world example: Imagine a beach, where the sand is wet near the water but dry farther away. Phospholipids are like sunbathers, with their heads (hydrophilic) closer to the wet part (water) and their feet (hydrophobic) towards the dry part (air)!

	Surfactant Role: This phospholipid layer acts as a surfactant, reducing surface tension, preventing alveoli from collapsing. Imagine it as the magic potion that keeps the alveoli open!

	Real-world example: You know when you blow up a balloon and let it go, it flies all around? If you put a little bit of sticky tape on it, it doesn&#39;t fly off as quickly. The surfactant is like that sticky tape for our alveoli, helping them to not collapse!
