🌟 General Idea: Locomotion = moving around, and it uses energy. Why would animals want to spend that energy? Let's find out!

Foraging for food 🍕

  • Think of it like your fridge. If it's empty, you go shopping. Animals go 'shopping' in the wild!
  • Herbivores: Like vegan foodies, they look for plant-based meals. 🌿
    • Example: Grazing animals like cows wander across fields hunting for the freshest salad.
  • Bees: Ever seen a bee zip from flower to flower? They're not just enjoying the view, they're collecting nectar and pollen! 🌼🐝
  • Frugivores: Fruit lovers! They keep an eye out for the ripest fruits. 🍎
    • Just like us looking for the juiciest apple or the sweetest mango!
  • Predators: These are the thrill-seekers, always on the hunt for their next meal.
    • Imagine a cat stalking a toy (or your toes) – in the wild, it’s life and death!

Running for your life – escaping danger 🏃

  • Animals don't just run for fun. Sometimes it's to escape a bigger, meaner creature!
  • It's like the schoolyard: avoid the bullies. So, animals need speed 🏎️ or stamina 🚴 to stay safe.
  • Cool Fact: Jackdaws, which are like the cool biker gangs of the bird world, gather at night in roosts (think of these as their secret clubhouses up in trees). But by dawn? They scatter!
