What's a biome?

  • Definition: A Biome is a big community of ecosystems that look and feel the same because of the conditions in which they exist.
  • Imagine: Think of a biome as a city where everyone wears the same type of clothes, listens to the same kind of music, and maybe even eats the same type of food. But instead of humans, these cities are full of plants and animals that have evolved similarly!

Why do they look alike?

Abiotic Factors: The non-living things (like sunlight, rainfall, or temperature) influence how creatures adapt and evolve in a biome.

 

💧 Real-world Example: Just like how you'd wear a thick jacket and gloves in cold, snowy places (like Canada) but prefer shorts in hot, sunny areas (like Florida).
