Big picture 🎉

Imagine your cell as a bustling city. When it gets enough oxygen supply (kind of like solar energy), it can produce way more energy (ATP) compared to when it's lacking oxygen. This process is a bit like charging a power bank: if you've got the right setup, you can store a lot more energy!

Pyruvate's journey 🚴‍♀️

After an epic adventure in glycolysis, our hero, Pyruvate, finds itself in the cytoplasm. But guess what? Its journey isn't over! If oxygen is available, Pyruvate goes on a trip to the mitochondrion, the powerhouse of the cell.

 

🔗 Real-world example: Think of Pyruvate like a raw ingredient (like wheat) that’s been prepped in the field (cytoplasm). Now, it’s being sent to a factory (mitochondrion) to be transformed into something more refined (like bread).
