A synapse is like a special chatroom between two cells in the nervous system. Imagine sending a text message to your friend. Your message (the signal) has to go through a chat platform (the synapse) to reach them. That's sort of how synapses work, but in our bodies!

  • Location: The brain and spinal cord.
  • Real-world example: When you think about your favorite song and start humming it.

• Effector Synapses 💪

  • Link neurons to muscle fibers or gland cells.
  • Remember: Muscles and glands are called "effectors" because they effect a response (they take action!).
  • Real-world example: Getting scared and your heart racing faster (thanks, muscles!) or getting nervous and sweating (shoutout to the glands!).
