From Reactivity 

  • Alkanes can be jazzed up by substituting a hydrogen with a flashy halogen.
  • The result? A halogenoalkane with a polar C–X bond.
  • The carbon gets electron-hungry 🍔⚡ (because halogens are greedy and hog the electron cloud).
