Cirques (or corries)

Picture a giant snow scoop creating an amphitheater in the mountains. That's a cirque for you!

 

Real-World Example: Blue Lake Cirque in Australia or Cirque de Gavarnie in France.

 

Formation Stages: a) Nivation: A hollow gets bigger with freezing and thawing. Think of it as the Earth's way of making ice cream scoops! b) Ice Accumulation: Enough ice collects, and it's party time for the glacier! c) Rotational Movement: The ice starts moving and erodes the floor like a big icy bulldozer. d) Meltwater Magic: Water trickles down cracks, and freeze-thaw helps the cirque grow.

 

Final Touch: You might find a lake in the hollow, like a cherry on top!
