Act 1- The Economic Domino Effect 🎭

New York Stock Exchange Crash, October 1929

  • Why is this important? Imagine the world's biggest piggy bank smashing into pieces.
  • The crash erases lots of money in share prices. Think about seeing your savings vanish overnight!
  • Impact on America
    • Leads to the Great Depression (America's wallet goes on a major diet).
  • Worldwide impact
    • Especially Germany. Imagine you borrowed money from a friend (the US), and now they want it back urgently. Yikes!
    • Germany's financial recovery = heavily reliant on US loans.
    • US calls back the loans -> German industry is in trouble (they were using the money to grow and innovate).
    • US stops buying German goods because their own economy is collapsing.
    • End result? German factories close. Unemployment reaches a scary 6 million by 1932.
