🌟 Fun Fact: History can sometimes feel like a soap opera! Let's get into the drama of the 1930s!

The anti-comintern pact (1936)

  • What was it? An agreement which seemed to prevent parties from supporting the Soviet Union.
  • Main Points
    • 🤔 True Intentions? Japan’s main fear? The Soviet Union’s influence in Manchuria & northern China.
    • 🤷‍♂️ Rejected Invites: Britain & Poland were like, "Nope! We're not joining this party."
    • 🤫 Secret Stuff: A hidden clause stated if one signatory waged war against the Soviets, the other wouldn’t help the Soviets.
    • Appearance: It seemed like Japan was BFFs with European fascists.
    • Irony Alert! Germans, who were super into the whole 'Aryan' thing, now had ties with non-Aryans (Japanese). Solution? Call the Japanese 'Honorary Aryans'! And Italians? Mussolini just said, "Hey, we're Mediterranean Aryans!" Voila!

Real-world analogy: It’s like being a part of a club where everyone has blue eyes and then inviting someone with green eyes and saying, "Oh, but their eyes look kinda blue in certain lights."

The sino-japanese war (1937-41)

  • What’s in a name?: It’s also called the Second Sino-Japanese War. If you’re wondering, the first was in 1894.
  • Japan’s Perspective: They never made an "official" war announcement. They just labeled it the ‘China Incident’.
  • Why Important?: Japan believed controlling China was crucial, particularly if China leaned towards the Soviets.

Real-world analogy: It's like two friends (Japan & China) arguing over a cool toy (control). They both want it, especially if another kid (Soviet Union) might play with it
