🎈 Fun Fact: The atmosphere weighs a whopping 5 × 10¹⁸ kg! If it were a sack of flour, you'd need trillions of kitchens to store it all!

🌎 What's above our heads?

  • The atmosphere stretches up to 100km above our heads. Imagine stacking 1 million professional football fields on top of each other; that's how tall it is!

  • Contains approximately 10⁴⁴ molecules. Picture the number of grains of sand on every beach in the world. Multiply it, and you're still not close!

💨 Atmospheric pressure at sea level

At sea level, the atmosphere presses down on us with a pressure of about 10⁵ Pa.

  • Real-world example: Imagine an elephant standing on a postage stamp. That’s the kind of pressure we’re talking about! But don’t worry, you're not squished because this pressure is exerted uniformly in every direction.
