The battle of words - gender vs. sex 🤼‍♂️

  • Sex = Biological (like having XX or XY chromosomes)
  • Gender = Social (how society thinks you should behave based on whether you're male or female)

Example: A newborn baby might have male biology, but if society starts giving him dolls and dresses, his gender role becomes influenced by those societal expectations.

Who am i? the quest for gender identity 🧠💭

  • Gender Identity: How you see yourself - male, female, or something else entirely!
  • Doesn't always match the sex assigned at birth. Think of it like a personal compass – pointing to who you feel you truly are!

Real-World Example: In India, besides male and female, there's an official third gender: transgender.

When do we figure out our gender identity? 🕰️👶

  • Some brainy people think as early as 18 months! 😲
  • Most agree that by age 3, our core gender identity is pretty solid.
  • It’s like setting jelly. Once it’s set, reshaping it is super tricky!
