Exciting note-venture - dive into research bias

Hey there, aspiring psychologists! Ready to deep-dive into the wild world of research bias? Let's make sense of this together, one chunk at a time. Put on your investigator hat, 'cause things are about to get interesting!

Bias in research - what's the deal?

In the vast landscape of research, bias is like a sneaky gremlin. It's always lurking around, ready to skew our results. But here's the catch: In quantitative research, we try to oust these gremlins (a.k.a biases) by keeping variables constant. In qualitative research, though, it's a different story. Here, the researcher is like a tool that collects data. Some biases can be sidestepped, but others are inevitable and must be acknowledged and factored in.

Think of it like baking a cake - sometimes, the flavour of the cake (your data) can be affected by the type of oven (researcher) you use. While you can adjust the temperature (control some biases), the brand of the oven (some biases) is something you can't change.
