Get rolling with angular kinematics ๐Ÿšด

Definition: Angular kinematics focuses on the movement around an axis. Think of it like spinning a basketball on your finger!

Angular displacement (the spin) ๐Ÿ”„

  • What is it? It's how much something has moved or spun around an axis. Imagine turning a doorknob from a closed to an open position – that’s angular displacement!
  • Symbol: 0 (Greek theta)
  • Is it Vector or Scalar? Vector! This means it has size and direction.
  • Units: Degrees (") or Radians (rad)
  • Direction: Anticlockwise or Clockwise around the axis. Like how you turn a bottle cap off (anticlockwise) and on (clockwise).

Angular velocity (the speed of spin) ๐ŸŒ€

  • What is it? How quickly something changes its angular displacement. If you spin a top, how fast it’s spinning is its angular velocity.
  • Symbol: o (Greek omega)
  • Is it Vector or Scalar? Vector again! Size and direction matter.
  • Units: Degrees per second (deg/s) or Radians per second (rad/s)
  • Direction: Clockwise or Anticlockwise about an axis.
