Preparation (pre-sizzle) phase ๐ŸŒŸ

Think of this like preheating an oven. You're getting everything ready for the perfect bake!

  • Purpose

    • Gets the athlete all prepped up with physical, psychological, technical, and tactical tools. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ
    • It's like your pre-exam study time. If you don’t study well now, the exam (competition) might not go as planned!
  • Duration

    • Typically 3 to 6 months.
    • Depends on:
      • Type of athlete (individual or team)
      • Sport's competitive season structure
  • Sub-phases (Based on Bompa's cool 1999 suggestion): a. General preparatory phase: * Like learning the ABCs before forming words. * Work on basic fitness/physical conditioning ๐Ÿƒ‍โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช * This way, they can handle more intense training later. * Also, time to sharpen technical and tactical skills ๐Ÿคบ๐Ÿ“–

Specific preparatory phase: * Preparing for the big game day! ๐Ÿ† * Training is specialized for the athlete’s specific sport. (Like studying specifically for a Math test!) * Might include pre-season friendly matches or exhibitions. * Offers feedback on the athlete's readiness. It's like a mock exam!

Competition phase ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This is game time! The spotlight's on!

  • Purpose

    • Happens during the competitive season. ๐Ÿ
    • No major fitness/technique gains now. It's like not trying to learn a whole textbook the night before an exam!
    • Goal: Maintain, polish, and shine!
  • Objectives (Straight from Bompa's 1999 playbook)

    • Maintain physical condition. (Like ensuring you still know the basics before an exam!)
    • Improve specific sports skills & technique. ๐ŸŽฏ
    • Perfect tactical competition strategy. (Finding the best method to tackle those tricky questions!)
    • Gain competition experience. Because experience is the best teacher!
  • Training Tweaks

    • Reduced volume, more specific.
    • Focused on refining sport-specific skills. (Because you don't need to re-learn everything, just make it perfect!)
