Ergogenic aids boost your performance ๐ŸŽ

  • Ergogenic aids are substances that boost performance, and they aren't just about nutrition.
  • They can include versions of hormones already in our bodies.

Human growth hormone (HGH) ๐Ÿš€

  • What it is: A protein-based hormone that fuels tissue growth, and cell reproduction and regeneration.
  • Fun Fact: Kids have more HGH than adults. Why? Because they're growing like crazy!
  • Recombinant Human Growth Hormone (rHGH): Think of this as HGH's lab-made twin. Helps adults with HGH deficiency and conditions stunting growth.
  • Real-World Example: Ever heard of adults needing hormone therapy? This is where rHGH can come into play.

Erythropoietin (EPO) โค๏ธ

  • What it is: Another protein hormone that's like the body's red blood cell manager.
  • Two Big Jobs: Protects red blood cells from damage and gets the bone marrow to produce new ones.
  • EPO Headquarters: Mainly in the kidneys and liver.
  • Recombinant EPO (rEPO): Lab version of EPO, used mainly to tackle anemia caused by various health issues.
  • Real-World Example: Ever met someone with anemia? rEPO can be a game-changer for them!
