Concept open skills in complex environments ๐Ÿ”

๐Ÿ€๐ŸŽพ Open skills are those performed in complex environments, like in soccer or field hockey where there are multiple players, referees, and other elements (e.g., ball, goals, line markings, spectators, coaches). These situations demand that athletes process loads of information to make split-second decisions.

๐ŸŽพ Example: In tennis, when a player is receiving a serve, they have to consider the opponent's serve type (observing their limbs and body position), the speed and direction of the serve, any spin, wind speed and direction, and their own position on the court. All these factors influence their decision on how to return the serve.

๐Ÿง  Big Question: How do we humans handle all this information and make quick decisions? Psychologists have been puzzled by this for years.
