Hey, eco-warriors! We've got a hot topic to dive into today: Global Warming and its impact on our health. So, buckle up! We're heading into the greenhouse (effect, that is)! 🌍🌑️

Stagnant water & diseases 🦟

First off, Global warming could lead to an increase in stagnant water. That's water that's not flowing, like a lazy river on a hot day. Problem is, mosquitoes love these chill spots. They're like mosquito 5-star resorts with all-you-can-eat buffet (sadly, we're the buffet!).

  • Real-world Example: Ever heard of Malaria or Zika? These are diseases caused by mosquitoes that could rise because of more stagnant water. An increase in global temperatures means more water evaporation and precipitation, creating more stagnant pools for mosquitoes to breed.

Changes in organism distribution 🌍🌿

Next up, global warming can shake up where organisms live. Like moving pieces on a chessboard, warmer temps can push species into new areas. When they get there, they might bring diseases we're not used to.

  • Real-world Example: Lyme disease, caused by ticks, has been spreading to new areas as global warming changes the habitats these ticks can survive in. This means more people exposed and at risk!
