Why move it? 🕺

Movement is a groove all living organisms can get down to. Whether they're tearing it up on the dance floor or just tapping their foot to the beat, movement is essential for survival.

Types of movement 💃🕺

There are two main ways organisms like to groove

  • Internal Jams 🎶

    • Inside the body of organisms.
    • Everyone does this!
    • Example: Peristalsis - Think of this as a wave dance inside our gut. It's how we move food through our digestive system. Kind of like how we move when our favorite song plays!
    • Even the tiniest, one-celled organisms move things around inside them.
  • Locomotion Boogie 🏃‍♂️

    • Moving the whole organism from one spot to another.
    • Not every organism gets down this way.
    • Those that do are called motile.
