Aerobic Respiration

  • Requires oxygen.
  • Main pathway in humans and many other living beings.
  • Equipped to meet energy demands over a longer period.
  • Takes place thanks to lungs & blood supplying oxygen.

Anaerobic Respiration

  • Doesn't need oxygen.
  • Happens in humans, some animals, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
  • Provides rapid energy but for a shorter duration.
  • Produces lactic acid in muscles as a byproduct.
