The basic idea 🌸

Plants do this super cool thing: they turn carbon dioxide (CO2) and water into yummy carbohydrates (like glucose) through a process called photosynthesis. Think of it like a plant's kitchen where they "cook" their food using sunlight!

The simple recipe 📜

  • Ingredients: Carbon dioxide + Water
  • Cooking with Sunlight 🌞: Photosynthesis
  • Finished Dish: Glucose (a type of sugar) + Oxygen
    • CO2 + H2O → C6H12O6 (glucose) + O2

The need for hydrogen💧

  • Role: Hydrogen is like the secret spice in this recipe! It’s necessary for a special step in which CO2 gets transformed (or reduced) into glucose.
  • Where does it come from? From water, but how? Through a special process named photolysis.
