Hello young mogul-in-training! ๐Ÿš€ Let’s delve into the exciting world of sales forecasting, and don't worry, we've got real-world examples to help you nail this concept!

๐ŸŒŸ Moving averages (for the overachievers - HL only!) ๐ŸŒŸ

Think of this as a tool to look into a crystal ball ๐Ÿ”ฎ but for business! Moving averages help you see a trend by evening out all the crazy ups and downs in sales.

How's it done? ๐Ÿค“

  • You take three years of sales data and get an average.

    E.g.: For Year 1, 2, & 3: (400,000 + 600,000 + 800,000)/3 = 600,000

Psst... We do this for every set of three years.

  • Extrapolation: Imagine drawing a line on your graph to predict future sales, kinda like predicting next year’s hottest fashion trend but for sales!

  • Variation: The difference between your real sales and what the trend says. It's like expecting to get 10 chocolates ๐Ÿซ and ending up with 7!
