🎩 Snapshot: Imagine being a knight guarding your kingdom, stepping in whenever you feel a threat's coming. That's how Spain's army felt - like protective guardians. But not everyone liked them.
Spain’s Army & Politics 🛡
- Spain's army saw itself as the nation's protector, kind of its bodyguard.
- They felt they could step into politics during a crisis.
- Previous times they've done this? 1820, 1871, 1874, and 1923.
- These interventions were called 'pronunciamientos' or coups.
Why Some Folks Didn't Like the Army 👎
- 🤼♂️ Brutality: Like that school bully everyone avoids.
- 💰 Expensive: Imagine buying a fancy car but never driving it.
- 🏦 Heavy Taxes: Think of it like paying a hefty Netflix subscription but only watching one show.
Problems within the Army ⚖️
- Too many chefs (officers) but not enough cooks (soldiers).
- Upper and middle classes supported the army because they were the officers.
