Quick Summary 🚀

Stalin wanted to change the entire culture of the Soviet Union! This was big news because he wanted everyone to think and act in a "proletarian" way. Imagine if your school principal suddenly changed all the school rules and made everyone study only ONE subject! 🙀

Cultural Revolution Overview 🎨

  • Started as a 'cultural revolution' (1920s vibes).
  • Ended in 1931 with a return to traditional values.
  • This shift was called 'socialist realism'.

🤔 Real-world example: It’s like switching from trendy, colorful clothes to wearing only black and white. The fashion changed completely!

Major Changes During the Cultural Revolution 🔥

  • No more compromises from the New Economic Policy (NEP) times.
  • Bourgeoisie, Nepmen, and kulaks? OUT! (Imagine if all the popular kids were suddenly expelled from school!)
  • Non-Marxists in academia, arts, and other fields were denounced.
  • A BIG vision: Create perfect socialist cities and a 'new socialist man'.

🤓 Did you know? The idea was to build HUGE apartments where everyone lived together, sharing everything. Like a massive sleepover every day!

Getting Rid of ‘Class Enemies’ 🚷

  • Kulaks were liquidated.
  • The Shakhty trial of 1928? Technical experts from industries were accused of sabotage.
  • The youth (Komsomol) played detective, finding and attacking these ‘enemies’.

🕵️ Real-world example: Think of it as the school's student council suddenly taking charge and pointing out rule-breakers. Except, way more intense.
