Hitler’s entry into politics 🕺

  • Post WWI vibes: After serving in World War I, Hitler was not a fan of the armistice (that's a peace agreement, by the way) or the Treaty of Versailles (a very harsh peace treaty for Germany).

Real-world example: Imagine playing a game, losing, and then the winners decide to take away half your toys. You’d be pretty mad, right? That was Hitler with the Treaty of Versailles.

  • The Beginning: He joined the German Workers’ Party in 1919, and by 1921, he was running the show.
    • New Name Alert! 🚨: It’s now called the Nationalist Socialist German Workers’ Party (quite a mouthful, huh?).
  • Their Agenda: Their 25-Point Programme was a blend of:
    • Nationalistic pride 🇩🇪
    • Socialist ideas (everyone pitches in for the common good)
    • A not-so-nice pinch of anti-Semitism 😠 (dislike towards Jewish people).

Munich putsch or that time hitler tried a coup 😲

  • Backdrop: Post the invasion of the Ruhr (a region in Germany).
  • What happened?: Hitler thought, "Why not just grab power?" So, he tried the Munich Putsch, sometimes known as the Beer Hall Putsch. Fun fact: A 'putsch' is a fancy word for an attempt to overthrow the government.
    • The Plan: Control the local government in Munich ➡️ then party all the way to Berlin to take over! 🎉
    • Reality Check: It flopped. Big oops

Real-world example: It’s like planning a massive surprise party and then realizing you forgot to invite people. 🎈

  • Consequences: Hitler got a time-out. He was sent to prison 🚔.

Mein kampf or my struggle 📖

  • Prison Break...or not: Instead of plotting an escape, Hitler wrote a book.
  • What's inside?: His goals, especially regarding foreign policy.
    • More nationalism 🌍
    • Strong anti-Semitism 🚫
    • Big thumbs down to peace treaties 👎

Real-world example: Think of it as Hitler's personal diary, where he jotted down his hopes, dreams, and lots of rants.
