🇺🇸 US Response in the Interwar Period 🕊️

  • Diplomatic Approach: Supported neutrality towards European conflicts. Think of it as the US trying to avoid drama in school, staying out of European “friendship fights.”
  • US & League of Nations: Kind of like that club everyone joined but the US? They didn't. So, the US was not a part of it.
  • Tensions in 1930s: Europe and Asia are becoming "tension central." Think of it as the storm clouds gathering, and the US is getting more umbrellas (increasing efforts) to remain neutral.
  • US Neutrality Acts: They had rules to keep them out of European affairs. Think of it as a strict parent saying, "Do not go out after 10 PM!" Check out more in Case Study 1.

War Time Decisions 💣

  • Europe at War: Just when you thought the drama couldn’t escalate, Europe goes full-on World War. US? They said, “We're neutral.”
  • However! Plot Twist: In 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt did a little rule-changing. Imagine if you could only shop online, but then you're allowed to shop in-store too. Belligerent countries (countries at war) could now buy from the US and ship items themselves.
