Shooting at the target - what does it mean? 🎯

Accuracy (Validity): Hitting the bull's eye in the target. In diagnosis, this means getting the diagnosis right.

Consistency (Reliability): Hitting the same spot, even if it's not the bull's eye. In diagnosis, this means making the same diagnosis across different times or different doctors.

Four possible scenarios 🏹

Hit the Bull's Eye Every Time: The dream! But it's hard to achieve

.

Reliable but Invalid Diagnosis: Think of hitting the same wrong spot. Everyone agrees but it's still wrong. That's dangerous!

Unreliable but Valid Diagnosis: A paradox! Like hitting the right spot once but never again.

Valid is Reliable, but Reliable isn't always Valid: Hitting the bull's eye means you're consistent at it, but hitting the same wrong spot is not valid.

Dangers of getting it wrong 😵

Ethical Issues: Wrong diagnosis can lead to stigmatization, like labeling someone incorrectly.

Treatment Issues: Like using the wrong ammunition for the target, wrong treatment won't solve the problem.
