The artist inside us internal model of illness 🎨

  • What is it? It's like the picture in our minds about an illness. Just as an artist has an idea of what to paint, a patient's thoughts about their sickness guide their feelings and actions.
  • Real-World Example: If you think of a cold as just a minor annoyance, you're likely to act normal, but if you see it as a devastating illness, you may end up in bed all day.

Schemas the blueprints of belief 🧠

  • What are they? Think of schemas as building plans in your brain that help you understand the world. They're influenced by culture and upbringing.
  • Real-World Example: In some cultures, a handshake is a polite greeting, while in others, it might be a bow. Your schema helps you know what to do!

Detective work in pakistan studying depression with CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy)

  • The Mission: Naeem et al. became mental health detectives to create a program that understands how people in Pakistan feel and think about depression.
  • How They Did It: Just like detectives gather clues, they interviewed patients in Urdu, listened to their stories, and analyzed them to find hidden patterns.
