๐ŸŽ‰ Fun Fact! Remember, we're diving into how to design a cool psychology experiment for your internal assessment. Exciting, isn't it? ๐ŸŽˆ

Choosing your topic ๐ŸŽฏ

  • Can be from any psychology area.
  • Must be from a peer-reviewed journal (imagine this like a special magazine where super-smart people say, "Yep, this study is solid!").

It must be an experiment! ๐Ÿ’ก

  • An experiment is like a recipe. You change ONE ingredient (IV) to see what happens to the dish (DV)!
    • Independent Variable (IV): The ingredient you change.
    • Dependent Variable (DV): What you're measuring. The outcome!
  • Don'ts
    • No quasi-experiments. These are where the IV isn't controlled by you but happens naturally. Examples include:
      • Age (you can't make someone older or younger for a day, right? ๐Ÿง“๐Ÿ‘ถ)
      • Native language, gender, culture, etc.
    • You can't experiment with:
      • Placebos (like a fake pill)
      • Anything ingested or inhaled (no snacks allowed!)
      • Deprivation (keeping people from food or sleep, etc.)
  • Dos
    • Use only ONE IV and ONE DV.
    • The IV should have at least two conditions or levels. Think of this as two variations of that ingredient you're changing.
    • Pro tip: Stick to only two levels of the IV for an easier time analyzing your data!
