Intro - the oxytocin rollercoaster 🎉

Ever heard of oxytocin? Some call it the "love hormone" or the "cuddle chemical". It plays a big role in relationships, and Scheele et al (2012) decided to find out just how much!

The researcher's quest 🔍

  • Study Group: 86 heterosexual men (some single, some in a relationship)
  • Experiment Setup: Each dude got either a sniff of oxytocin or a fake-out (placebo) through their nose. They didn't know which one!

Test the awkward walk towards attraction 💡

  • Stop-distance paradigm" (sounds fancy, right?): Each man had to start walking from one end of a room.
  • On the other side? An attractive female experimenter (plot twist!).
  • Man's mission: Walk towards her and stop only when you're a tiny bit too close for comfort.
