🧠 Understanding IQ & Genetics with Twins! Let's break down this study to understand it better, shall we?

The twin types & genetics! 🧬

  • MZ twins (Monozygotic Twins): They come from the SAME egg and share 💯% of their genes.

For example, imagine two identical blue marbles.

  • DZ twins (Dizygotic Twins): They come from DIFFERENT eggs. They share 50% of their genes, just like any siblings or parents with their biological children.

Think of one blue marble and one red marble.

  • Adopted Parents & Kids: They don't share any genes.

Imagine a blue marble and a yellow marble.

If only genes decided iQ 🧠📏

  • MZ twins would have the exact same IQ! (Perfect correlation of 1)
  • DZ twins, siblings, and parents & biological children would have similar but not identical IQs.
  • Adopting parents & children? Well, their IQs wouldn't relate at all!

But hey, it's not just genes; environment plays a role too!

The role of environment 🏡

  • MZ twins raised together in the same environment will have more similar IQs than those raised apart.

Imagine if both blue marbles grew up in a box full of glitter. They'd both get super sparkly!
