โœจ Fun Fact: Did you know that the word "ergogenic" is derived from the Greek words "ergon" (work) and "genes" (born of)? It literally means "work-producing"! So ergogenic aids are designed to improve performance.

What are ergogenic aids?

  • They are substances, techniques, or equipment believed to enhance performance.
  • Not every aid that claims to be ergogenic has definitive proof. Some do, some don't.

Proven ergogenic aids ๐ŸŒŸ

  • Carbs: Eating the right amount of carbs before/during exercise can boost performance for activities lasting around 45 mins or more.

  • ๐Ÿ Real-World Example: Think of carbs like fuel. You wouldn't expect a car to go far without fuel, right? Similarly, when you munch on a bowl of pasta before a marathon, you're stocking up on energy!

  • Altitude Training: Living high (like on a mountain) & training low (sea level) can improve endurance.

  • ๐Ÿž๏ธ Real-World Example: It's like practicing with a weight vest. Remove the vest (or come down from the mountain), and suddenly, running feels easier!

  • "Sharkskin" Swimsuit: Makes swimmers faster, efficient, and they use less energy.

  • ๐Ÿฆˆ Real-World Example: Think of this swimsuit as the sleek design of a sports car. It's built for speed, cutting through the water just like a car cuts through the wind!
