  • Some parts, like fiber, can't be digested. Think of it like trying to use Lego bricks in a Jenga game – it just doesn’t fit! This energy exits our body through poop. ๐Ÿ’ฉ
  • Sometimes, even digestible nutrients have parts that contain energy but leave our body. Like when protein turns into urea and ammonia - it's like half-eaten candy! They exit through our pee. ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿ’ฆ
  • What really matters is metabolizable energy - the energy that our body can actually use.

Macronutrients & energy ๐Ÿ”‹

  • Fat can be stored easily (like keeping extra batteries) and is used up slowly.
  • Proteins can't be stored, so they're used up fast (like that one-time-use emergency phone charger).
  • After a balanced meal, our body uses:
    • Proteins ๐Ÿฅฉ
    • Carbohydrates ๐Ÿž
    • Fat ๐Ÿฅ“
