Introductory remark

These concepts represent the idea of secularism, which is a fundamental part of many modern democracies.

๐Ÿ“šFun Fact: The idea of secularism originated during the Enlightenment period (17th-18th century) in Europe, when thinkers began to promote science and human reason over religious authority.

The interplay of religion and politics

Despite the idea of secularism, one cannot ignore the significant interactions between religion and politics. As Mahatma Gandhi once stated, “those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is”.

๐ŸŒReal-world Example: Think about the Civil Rights movement in the 1950s. This movement was a political struggle for racial equality but was significantly influenced by religious figures like Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister.
