Mao's Land Policy 🚜

  • The Prelude:
    • Yanan Period (before 1949): Mao's Red Army 'liberated' CCP areas.
    • How? Kicked out landlords and gave land to peasants. 🌾
    • Real-world example: Imagine your school playground being ruled by a few bullies. Then, a new group comes, kicks the bullies out, and redistributes the toys to everyone else. That's Mao during the Yanan period!
  • After 1949: Anti-landlord policy continues.
    • Twist: Later, land is taken back from peasants for collectivisation.
    • Why?: Part of the Great Leap Forward. It's like asking everyone to pool their lunch snacks for a big communal feast, but not everyone gets a satisfying meal.

Mao's Take on Industry 🏭

  • Mao's Quote: Agricultural and industrial growth is like 'walking on two legs'.🚶‍♂️
  • Mao's Vision: Massive collectives = modern China.
  • Problem?: Mao's ambition 🚀 > his economic know-how 📉.
    • Ignored capitalist methods = Missed out on steady industrial growth.
    • Real-world example: Imagine trying to make a cake without a recipe because you believe your way is better. Sometimes, the cake might be okay, but often, it could end up a mess.
