Two views two sides 🎭

  • Just like we've got Marvel and DC, the Cold War had two main perspectives: Western & Soviet.
  • Western Perspective: What most of us are familiar with.
  • Soviet Perspective: Let's dive in!

The soviet orthodox vs soviet revisionists 🧔

  • 'Soviet Orthodox'
    • Soviet historians during the Cold War.
    • Why? Well, they were writing under heavy censorship. Think of them like movie directors with tons of studio interference.
  • 'Soviet Revisionists'
    • Post-Cold War Soviet historians.
    • Focused a lot on Stalin. Kinda like focusing on Thanos in the Avengers movies.

Initial soviet views on the U.S. 🦁

  • They saw the U.S. as trying to spread "dollar imperialism." Think of it as the U.S. trying to set up a monopoly board across Europe.
  • Sergei Molotov's Hot Take:
    • Wrote Problems of Foreign Policy.
    • Accused the U.S. of trying to economically control Europe. Like a puppet master pulling strings!
