What's a field? 🌍

A field is a cool concept in physics where an object, like our planet Earth, can pull or push another object without touching it! Kind of like magic, but real!

  • You feel Earth's pull when you pick up a stone. Let it go, and it dashes towards the ground.
  • This pull, the gravitational force, acts even if there's no direct touch.

Real-world analogy: Imagine a magnetic force between two magnets even when they're not touching. That's a field!

Two masses in space - a & b 🚀

Suppose you've two masses (or objects) floating in space - A and B.

  • Mass A is being pulled by mass B and vice-versa.
  • Even if they're different in size, the pull (or force) they exert on each other is the same strength but in opposite directions.

Field definition 📖

A field exists when an object can influence another from a distance. Every object with mass (like planets or stars) has its gravitational field. And any other mass that enters this field feels the pull!

What’s "action at a distance"? 💡

Objects influencing each other without touching! It was a big change in how scientists thought. Imagine having a superpower where you can move things without touching them!
