Hey there, future psychologist! Today, we're diving into the world of case studies – a unique, fascinating, and incredibly important aspect of psychological research. Let's do this!

What on earth is a case study?

Well, my dear Sherlock, a case study is like a detective mission into the mind! It's an in-depth investigation of an individual or a group. But it's not just any person or group – we're talking about unique subjects that really stand out from the crowd. You might be asking why we'd focus on just one person or a group instead of a whole population. And you're right – that's what makes case studies so special!

Think of it as studying a unique snowflake under a microscope. You're not necessarily interested in all snowflakes, but this particular one is so peculiar and different, it's worth a close look. That's what a case study is all about!

Case study toolbox - it's all mixed up!

Remember, case studies are not just about one method of research. They're a mixed bag of goodies – interviews, observations, and so on. The aim here is to get a deep understanding of your subject, no matter what it takes!

Imagine you're a documentary filmmaker. You're not just going to use one kind of camera or one technique. You'll use drone shots, close-ups, interviews, voice overs, everything to give your viewers a comprehensive view. Similarly, case studies use multiple methods to get a detailed picture of the subject.
