Introduction ๐Ÿ”

  • There are THREE terms: Overtraining, Staleness, and Burnout.
  • ๐Ÿšซ Mistake alert! They aren't the same, even if some people use them interchangeably.

Overtraining vs. Staleness ๐Ÿ‹

  • Overtraining: The process. Think of it like baking a cake - you're adding in ingredients (exercise) hoping for a tasty result.
  • Staleness: The outcome. Uh-oh, you added too much salt! Performance doesn’t improve or gets worse.

Fun Example ๐Ÿค”

Imagine training for a marathon. If you train too much (overtrain), you might not see better results or even start running slower (staleness). But wait, there's more!

Staleness vs. Burnout ๐ŸŠ

  • Staleness: Still want to swim, but times in the pool aren't improving.
  • Burnout: Not only are times bad, but also, "Why am I even swimming? ๐Ÿคท‍โ™‚๏ธ". There's a lack of motivation.
