The Essence of Goal Setting

Why are Goals SO Cool? ๐Ÿค“

  • ๐ŸŽฏ Goals are like laser beams; they focus your attention.

  • ๐Ÿšด Goals push you to work hard. Think of it like shifting to a higher gear on a bike when the path gets tougher.

  • โณ They are like your favorite video game; they keep you playing (persisting) longer.

  • ๐Ÿง  Goals make you think! They make you come up with a game plan.

    Real-world example: Think of soccer. The GOAL (pun intended) is to get the ball into the net. To achieve this, players focus on the game, push their limits, don’t give up till the whistle blows, and constantly strategize!

Goals can boost your confidence and reduce those jittery feelings (aka anxiety). Imagine feeling like a rockstar before your big game! (Burton, 1989)
