🏅Main Idea: Feedback is the information we get from an action or response. It's crucial for athletes to receive and process feedback to improve their performance. Feedback can come in different forms, such as intrinsic or extrinsic, positive or negative, and can be given at various times during performance.

1️⃣ Types of feedback

  • 🎯 Intrinsic Feedback: This is the information we get from our own senses without needing any external sources. For instance, a basketball player feeling the shot after releasing the ball is intrinsic feedback.
  • 🗣️ Extrinsic Feedback: This is the information given to us by someone or something else. It can be a coach telling you to adjust your running posture or a stopwatch showing you your time in a 100m race. Extrinsic feedback can be provided during the performance (concurrent) or after it (terminal).

2️⃣ Forms of feedback

  • 🏆 Knowledge of Results (KR): This is post-action information about the outcome. For example, a high jumper might need the height they jumped to be measured to get KR feedback.
  • 🤸‍♂️ Knowledge of Performance (KP): This is post-action information about the nature of the movement. It could be how you felt while making a jump or feedback from a coach about how you moved during that jump. KP can also come from watching a video or film of your performance.
