Key Terms & Definitions 🤓

  • Construct: A fancy term for an idea or concept that isn't a physical thing (like unicorns 🦄... just kidding, more like feelings!). You can't touch or see it, but it helps explain something.

    Examples

    • Fatigue (Feeling after binge-watching 3 seasons in one night! 😴)
    • Aggression (How you feel when someone eats your hidden snacks 🍫)
    • Center of gravity (The point that keeps things balanced, like a ballerina on her tiptoe! 🩰)
  • Triangulation: Using 2+ measurements to get a clear picture. It's like using multiple camera angles to capture the perfect shot! 📸

Measuring Anxiety🧪

Remember: Anxiety isn't just "feeling worried". There are actual body responses that come with it.

  • Symptoms & Responses: There are various signs which can hint if someone's anxious. Like how you might sweat before a big presentation or your heart races in a haunted house.

  • Five Major Categories

    • Physiological: Changes in our body's functions.
    • Biochemical: Chemical changes in our body. Fun fact: It's kinda a part of physiological but gets its VIP seat because it's super important!

Note: Only relying on one category can be misleading. For example, imagine your friend suddenly has fast heartbeats. It could be from running, seeing their crush, or maybe... they saw a ghost?! 👻
